Overview

EADS North America is leading the UH-72A Lakota industry team that is producing, delivering and supporting this advanced rotary-wing aircraft for the U.S. Army's Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) mission.  The company oversees the North American operation of EADS, the second largest aerospace and defense company in the world.

In addition to the UH-72A, EADS North America and its business units provide the U.S. Coast Guard’s HH-65 Dauphin helicopters and HC-144A Ocean Sentry maritime patrol aircraft, along with a full range of systems, training and support for America’s military and government agencies.

UH-72A manufacturing is the responsibility of American Eurocopter – an EADS North America business unit, and is performed at its Columbus, Mississippi facility.

Lakota production averages three to four helicopters per month – with the capability of reaching five aircraft monthly at American Eurocopter’s rotorcraft center of excellence adjacent to Columbus’ Golden Triangle Regional Airport.  This facility has brought high-value jobs into the region, with total program employment planned to surpass 200 as the UH-72A program reaches its full production and final assembly capability.

Other members of the UH-72A industry team include Aerolite of Everett, Washington, BAE SYSTEMS Mobility and Protection Systems, CAE, Goodrich Corporation, Keith Products, The NORDAM Group, Sagem Avionics, Sikorsky, Thales North America, Turbomeca USA and Wulfsberg Electronics.
