EADS North America’s Randy Hutcherson When EADS North America entered the U.S. Army’s Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) competition, its capture team included a highly qualified manager with extensive rotary-wing piloting experience. Randy Hutcherson, EADS North America's Vice President for Rotorcraft Programs, is a retired Marine Corps officer with more than 5,000 flight hours in helicopters. He also has extensive experience in the Defense Department's acquisition and budgeting process. Hutcherson said it was exciting to be a part of the successful Light Utility Helicopter bid, which brought together pilots, engineers, support specialists and other personnel from EADS operations on both sides of the Atlantic. He noted the LUH contract win builds on Homeland Security market successes of EADS North America and its American Eurocopter business unit, and expands the company’s responsibilities as a supplier to the U.S. military. Eurocopter helicopters already are in use with the U.S. Coast Guard, FBI, Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and law enforcement agencies from coast-to-coast. |
Hutcherson said the UH-72A’s combination of advanced technology and high reliability in a COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) system were key factors in the rotary-wing aircraft’s win of the Light Utility Helicopter contract.
